Allergy Treatment

After it has been determined by a qualified medical practitioner that you are an Allergy sufferer there are a number of basic measures you have to take to cope with your condition.

The number one thing to accept is,  all Allergy Treatment programmes  are grounded on the basic reality that currently there's no recognized remedy for any Allergies. While some kids can outgrow their Allergies the rest don't. Any adult who happens to become an Allergy sufferer will most probably bear it for life.

Having established that, it then becomes a job of dealing with your Allergy as best as possible being mindful of the type of Allergy concerned and the circumstances that you are in.

The next and most logical step to consider in your Allergy Treatment program is to avoid the identified cause that sets off your Allergy. While this might seem to be an easy task if it's a Food Allergy, it might not be pragmatic or even conceivable if it's an Environmental Allergy. See our Allergy Types page for information on the different allergy Types.

Take Food Allergies, they appear easy to deal with but they can be hard to control if you don't take care. You should be quite able to avoid the allergic food substance in its natural state like a peanuts or some cheese or a strawberry, that's the easy part. It gets harder, and what you have to be particularly careful of is that many of these allergic substances can be put into many other products in the supermarket.

For instance wheat is one of the base ingredients in bread, flour, sausages, pasta sauces, beer, malted milks, noodles and candy bars. Not to mention peanuts in health food bars.

The same can be read for milk lactose and barley and rye and seafood. So really you have to slow down and take a minute to read the labels on every food product you intend to buy. Now this may sound like a lot of work but you'll soon become really knowledgable about what grocery products are safe to buy and what products you should leave on the shelf.

Environmental Allergies are a good deal harder to control as they'll normally be set off by substances that are airborne. At home we can be careful by constant washing and cleaning and using aids like a HEPA filtrated air conditioning unit or humidifier.

If you have a Pet Allergy, keep your pet outdoor, clean the floors and vacuum-clean the carpetings and any fabric furniture every week. Always clean your hands every time you pat your pet. You'll find more pragmatic information on our pages about Dust Mites, Hay Fever and Pet Allergies.

The next significant measure in a successful Allergy Treatment is to talk over with your medical practitioner what specific products you can use to get relief and manage your Allergy symptoms. As the majority of Allergies are stimulated by the body’s flood of histamine to fight the substance you are allergic to, it makes sense that antihistamines will always be at the top of the list of pharmacy products prescribed.

Luckily a lot of these products can be purchased across the counter in pill or liquid form or nasal sprays. Basic brand name are Benadryl, Claritin, Zyrtec, Sudafed and Visine eye-drops.

Sometimes ordinary across the counter products might not be sufficient to effectively treat your Allergy. In those circumstances your doctor could order prescription medicine to fight your Allergy symptoms.

A different area that's attaining credence as a very good Allergy Treatment is immunotherapy. Immunotherapy involves a course of needles over a time period using increasing stronger doses of Allergens to bit by bit step-up the body’s tolerance levels. Outcomes so far have established that in excess of 75% of patients given this type of Allergy Treatment have had very substantial and noticed gains.

As far as alternate medicine remedies go, some cases have been put forth favouring the herb Butterbur and grape seed extract as alternative antihistamines.

It is highly recommended that any Allergy Treatment that you decide to take should only be undertaken in consultation with your physician or medical advisor.
